Aurelien Dore was born September 23, 1980 in Bois-Bernard, France. He lives and works in the city of Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
In 2004, he obtained a first contract as a professional off-hand glassblower at the CERVAV (European Center for Research and Education in the Glass Arts) in Vannes-Le-Chatel, France.
From 2005 to 2006, he pursued his studies with a year-long studio apprenticeship sponsored by the SEMA (French organization for promoting craft trades) which was given at the Verriers des Coteaux (glass studio). He started as production assistant and then was promoted as production manager while being supervised by his instructor Gerard Torcheaux. From this experience, he learned to blow colored glass while mastering a constant glasswork productions.
In 2007, he decided to leave his native France for Canada to concentrate on his own personal glasswork and production. For six months, he lived in Chicoutimi, Quebec while searching for his own glasswork process, at the Atelier Arts du Feu (glass studio).
FOrced by unexpected events to search for different ways of blowing glass without a furnace, he developed his own glasswork technique. This allowed him to show the resulting glassworked pieces at the Toquet Rouge Gallery in Jonquiere, Quebec.
Presently, some of his glass worked pieces are shown at many galleries such as the Elena Lee Gallery in Montreal. Also, his glass work was recently chosen by glass artist Laura Donefer for the Colors exhibition that will be presented at the Hodgell Gallery in Sarasota, Florida.
